The Core Of Your Numerology Chart
Your Soul Urge is just one of 4 numbers that make up your core.
Although, your entire chart needs to be examined in order to give a complete picture of a person, your core gives a good overview, and is reasonably accurate, while not taking into account the other 'Modifier' numbers.
Your Core Chart is comprised of 4 numbers:
1. Your Life Path - Gives you a broad look at the opportunities, challenges, you will be presented with in this lifetime. It reveals key characteristics of your personality, the hurdles you must overcome to achieve happiness, and the probable journey you will take. Learning the 'lesson' associated with your Life Path will help you achieve personal growth and development.
The Life Path is of tremendous importance because it is defined by the date of birth. It represents certain characteristics that are reference points for other aspects of our lives. It is much like our DNA, in that it is a number that cannot be changed.
All other numbers are seen in terms of their relationship with the Life Path number: it colours our lives and actions with its special qualities.
A major aspect of Numerology is the craft of working with what can be changed in order to bring various aspects of life into harmony with the Life Path Number. Of course, you create your own futures with your actions and choices, according to your values and your level of commitment to them. Yet by making changes that enhance the alignment with the Life Path number, you may find that you experience fewer obstacles, and life becomes happier and more fulfilling.
The Life Path number represents potentials and strengths that will always be there for you when you decide to use them, or when you need them. It is the central number in the hierarchy of vibrations that make up your Numerology chart.
2. Your Expression - The Expression number is sometimes called the Destiny number, because it represents the direction your life is taking, or the destination you have in sight. It speaks of your mental and emotional constitution, and how those are integrated with the physical body. It is about the type of person you are trying to be, and the personality as you perceive and work to express it.
Being derived from your full name, it is the most important of the changeable numbers in the Numerology chart. Many hundreds of thousands of cases in which the change of name preceded a change in life tell us something about the fact that we do control our own destinies, and that the name is one of those vehicles through which we can take control.
Talents, abilities and even areas in which you are likely to be challenged are all described by the Expression number. It shows you the gifts that you can adapt to your circumstances when the need arises. When studied in the context of your life Path number, an overview of the type of person you are and the type of activities that you can benefit from is created. This way that the path that leads to personal fulfillment is no longer a mystery.
Numerology is an art of creating your future, and the Expression number is a key tool in the process. The Expression and Life Path numbers are the two main numbers studied by all numerologists, and all other numbers are derived from subdivisions or combinations of them.
3. Your Soul Urge - This describes what you value or want most in life. This is often very different from what your Life path number (that represents who you are from birth) or your expression (that represents your potential) says about you. The Heart's Desire number has to do with the inner aspects of the ego. Most of your motivations and values can be found in this number, in that it shows the intention behind your actions. Being about intentions and motivations, it has a great deal to say about the choices you make.
Since the Soul Urge number is derived from the Expression number, if the Expression is changed (by changing the name) the Soul Urge number may be changed as well. An example of this might be the change of name of a person who is a performing artist, and their new name may represent the type of "style" they develop after the transition. Understanding this number properly can be the key to the concept "choose today, change tomorrow".
4. Your Birthday is one of the four core numbers upon which Numerology charts are based. It has great importance in understanding the chart, because it represents a special talent that can help you along your life path. This number is not one that can be changed, and is therefore important to become familiar with.
In that this is an unchangeable number, it represents something that you can fall back on when facing difficult circumstances. It can also be a resource, like the magical weapons of ancient myth, that never fails in its purpose. No matter where your Life Path takes you, the Birthday number will always be available, reliable, and ready for use.

Numerology Minor Expression Number
The Minor Expression number is the number of the current name or nickname that you use to introduce yourself to others, or that others know you by. It includes your last name. A very lucky person may have adapted a version of their name that helps compensate for an imbalance in the full name. It can also help bring out hidden talents, abilities or psychological stances that may be suppressed by the full name. Changes in this name can be tricky, for instance, a woman named Margaret that goes by Meg is working well with the short name and her maiden name, could change the short name again through marriage and change the vibrational harmony within the chart.
Numerology Maturity Number
The Maturity number represents an underlying wish or desire that we carry around all our lives, but have no opportunity to fulfill it until somewhere between 30 and 35 years of age. This is a desire that begins to be known as we grow in self-knowledge, and sometimes results in a major career change. This is a lifelong goal that may not be consciously known until you are involved in it. It may be something that was readily apparent in your childhood, but disappears for a while and resurfaces later in life, when you really want to express the "real you".
Numerology Life Path/Expression Bridge
Bridge numbers are those that create harmonious links between core numbers. In other words, the Life Path/Expression Bridge describes the way in which the direction of growth and lessons in life can be easily aligned with the talents and strengths. They are used to help align the different numbers in your chart, like notes added to a chord in music to turn cacophony into harmony.
Numerology Karmic Lesson
These numbers have a very special role in a numerology report or session. The doctrine of Karma comes from Indian metaphysics, and has to do with the work one must do in life. While other numbers in the numerology chart tell us about what we have, the Karmic Lesson numbers point to what we do not. The Karmic Lesson numbers are the missing numbers in your name, and represent the paths to completion or wholeness that you need to work on in life.
Numerology Planes of Expression
Planes of Expression is a name that numerologists use to describe four basis categories of life experience. The letters of the alphabet are divided into either Physical, Emotional, Mental or Intuitional categories. The Physical letters connect us to the world of the five senses, and the bodily psychology of pleasure and pain. The Emotional letters point to the realm of the feelings, happiness, sorrow, courage and fear and so on. Mental letters have to do with reason, analysis and organization of data. Intuitional letters show flashes of insight or the ability to grasp and deal with abstract concept of what is usually called psychic perception.
The concept is not very different from the use of the Aristotelian elements in the Tarot deck, where Earth (Pentacle) is physical, Water (Cup) is emotional, Air (Sword) is mental and Fire (Wand) is intuitional.
Of course, all people have some degree of all of these elements, but most of us are polarized in one of these planes because of a dominance of a given letter group in the name. Being much like the types of itrancesi described by modern psychological typing models, the Planes of Expression numbers can help in understanding the talents and also a great deal about the relationship style.

Numerology Rational Thought
The Rational Thought number helps describe your thought patterns and methods. Most of the mental aspects of personality, in terms of how one responds to challenges and the way in which problems are analyzed are seen through this number.
Numerology Subconscious Self
The Subconscious Self is a name give to an arithmantic sum in your chart that speaks of your confidence and sense of your own competence. It also is very helpful in understanding whether or not you assess sudden situations accurately enough to respond to them in an effective way.
Numerology Challenges
Numerologists have discovered that there are four Challenges to be faced at different times in life. For some of us the same Challenge may repeat itself, a sign of trying again to perfect or cultivate a certain quality. For others, every challenge may be different.
It has been found that people seem to encounter situations in which the Challenge number represents the exact characteristic or skills needed to overcome a given problem. It represents a weakness in the life that needs to be worked on and turned into a strength, much like a personal coach who pushes you into a new routine to build this or that physical ability.
The First Challenge emerges during early life, and sometimes stays with you until the 20's or even after, at which point it is overcome.
The Second Challenge appears during mid life, and usually begins before the first challenge has been completed.
The Third Challenge covers the entire life, and is often so strong that it masks the underlying first, second and fourth challenges.
The Fourth Challenge begins in late mid-life and stays in effect for the remainder of the lifetime.
Challenges are derived from the Life-Path number, and are therefore cycles of life that are not changeable.

Numerology Pinnacles
Pinnacles are another way of subdividing the life span using the Life Path Number. Pinnacles present us with opportunities for growth, but do so in such a way that we have to develop the quality of that Pinnacle. The years of the Pinnacles are usually ones of dramatic personal transformation. The first and the last of these are very long term cycles, while the middle two are covered only by a nine year cycle. Even still, their effects are profound. In the process of learning to deal with the Pinnacle number, the Pinnacle number has the effect of changing you in dramatic ways. The most important thing about the Pinnacles is that you can prepare for the transformational periods and make the best use of them to enhance your personal growth and prosperity.
Numerology Transits
Transits are time periods based on the name of birth. Their calculation is somewhat complicated, but there are Physical, Mental and Spiritual transits that you need to be aware of. They are used in tandem with the Essence to provide information about a given year. Transit letters from the first, middle, and last names act as physical, mental, and spiritual Transits. Physical Transits usually have effects on travel, home, health to some degree, and other physical aspects of life. Mental transits have to do with the mental and emotional aspects of life, and therefore include happiness, relationships and so on, but can affect the health and prosperity. Spiritual Transits include such phenomena as mystical experiences, religious ecstacy, initiation, psychic and paranormal experiences.
Numerology Essence
if you take the numeric values of the Transit letters and find their arithmantic sum, you arrive at the Essence number for the year. It is very important in determining the quality of a given year, and is read not only in contrast with the Transits, but also with the Personal year cycle. Each Essence number has a special meaning according to the number that defines it, and is crucial for accurate prediction using the annual iExcursioni chart, or other annual charting methods.
Numerology Personal Years
A Personal Year is a number for any given year that is derived from your Life Path Number. It is studied by comparing it with the Essence (and the other numbers of your Numerology chart) number, and describes how you will fare during the year, as well as something of the nature of your experience during the year. Many numerologists use just the Life Path, Expression and Personal year numbers for giving basic predictions or information. Using this number in concord with Transits, Essence, Pinnacles and so on can create quite an accurate profile that can be used for taking advantage of years of abundance and prosperity, or preparing for years that are less favorable.
